1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create a DailyBlend account, we collect your email address, first and last name, and a password. Your password is stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never store or see it in plain text.

Content you create

This is the heart of the app, and it belongs to you. It includes:

• Recipes — including photos you upload, notes you write, and the source URLs of recipes you import.
• Meal plans — the meals you schedule for your household.
• Chores — chore lists, schedules, assignments, and completion history.
• Grocery lists — items you add or generate from recipes.
• Household information — the household you belong to and the member profiles in it (names, icons, and colors).

Device and usage information

• Feature usage analytics — events describing which features you use (for example, opening the meal planner or importing a recipe), tied to your account so we can understand how the app is used and improve it.
• Crash reports and diagnostics — technical information generated when the app encounters an error, so we can find and fix bugs.
• Device platform — basic information such as whether you are on iOS or Android and your app version.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or anything from your device beyond what is listed above.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above only to run and improve DailyBlend:

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To provide the app's features — syncing your recipes, meal plans, chores, and grocery lists across your household and your devices.
• To process content you ask us to process — for example, extracting a recipe from a photo or link you submit.
• To send transactional email you request or that your account requires, such as password resets and email-change confirmations. We do not send marketing email.
• To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and understand which features matter.

3. Household Sharing

DailyBlend is built around shared households. When you add content to a household — a recipe, a meal plan entry, a chore, a grocery item — it is visible to every member of that household. That is the point of the app, but it is worth stating plainly: do not add anything to a household that you would not want the other members of that household to see.

Member profiles within a household (names, icons, colors) are likewise visible to all members of that household.

4. Service Providers We Use

DailyBlend is built by one person, and like most modern apps it runs on trusted third-party infrastructure. These providers process data only to provide their service to us — none of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes:

• MongoDB Atlas — hosts our database, where your account and content are stored.
• Vercel — hosts our API servers.
• Cloudinary — stores and processes the recipe photos you upload.
• Anthropic — provides the AI that reads recipe photos and pages you submit for import. Content is sent to Anthropic only when you initiate an import, only for extraction, and it is not used to train AI models.
• SendGrid — delivers transactional email (password resets, email-change confirmations).
• Sentry — collects crash reports and diagnostics when the app encounters an error.
• Google / YouTube API — used to fetch video details when you import a recipe from a YouTube link.

5. No Selling Your Data, No Advertising

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with data brokers. There is no third-party advertising in DailyBlend, and no advertising SDKs or trackers are embedded in the app.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account exists, so the app keeps working for you and your household.

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your account data from our systems. If you are the only member of your household, all of that household's content (recipes, meal plans, chores, grocery lists) is deleted along with it. If other members remain in the household, content shared with the household stays with them.

Feature usage analytics events expire automatically and are deleted after 180 days.

7. Your Rights

Wherever you live, we extend the same basic rights to everyone:

• Access — you can ask us what personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — you can update your name and email in the app, or ask us to correct anything else.
• Deletion — you can delete your account in the app (see above), or ask us to delete your data.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, these correspond to your rights under the GDPR (including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority). If you are a California resident, they correspond to your rights under the CCPA/CPRA — and because we do not sell or share personal data for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of.

8. Children's Privacy

DailyBlend is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Accounts may only be created by people 13 or older.

Households can include "kid" member profiles for assigning chores. These are simply name-and-icon labels created and managed by an adult account holder — they are not accounts, have no login, and collect no information from the child.

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data: passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes, all traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS/HTTPS, authentication uses short-lived tokens stored in your device's secure storage, and access to production systems is restricted.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but if we learn of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where the change meaningfully affects how your data is handled, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of DailyBlend after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies.
